Whats Fairylove all about?

Cool, lets kick off with the million dollar question!!

Fairylove is all about believing; believing in yourself, believing in others, and above all believing in magic. This is not the sort of magic that exists in the minds of film directors, it's believing in magic in the way you did as a kid. It's believing in a way that entertains no sense of doubt .

Fairylove is about spreading love joy and magic. It's about believing that the world is an abundant place, that there is plenty for everyone, and that no one need be left out.

Fairylove is about thinking positively and trying to see the best in every situation.

Fairylove is about making wishes and truly believing that those wishes can and will come true.

Fairylove is about letting go of your fears, its about letting go of all that consciously holds you back. It is committing with a deep sense of trust to letting go of your unconscious fears, it's about release; to be both vulnerable and by the same token be magnificent beyond measure. It's about shining brightly for all that you are just as you are, and perfect as you are.

Fairylove is about dressing up and expressing a magical side of yourself. It's allowing yourself to shine on the inside and showing it on the outside for all the world to see and be inspired by. It's about discovering or rediscovering your sense of fun, colour and confidence.

Fairylove is the name of our enterprise but we also believe that fairylove is a verb, it is a doing word. It's a way that we can express ourselves into the world. Whether you are fat or thin, young or old, rich or poor you can be in the here and now and make a conscious choice about how you want your life to be. That is the challenge of Fairylove , the challenge we face and the challenge we invite you to share with us.

Fairylove is our journey and it is our invitation for you try on a pair of wings, put on a tutu and dare to fly free.

When did you first start making fairy wings?
Shelley started making wings over 12yrs ago. Shortly after a close friend died she started to see angels and fairies and these visions gave her the inspiration to make a pair of wings. Shelley sold her first pairs at the Sydney markets in Australia . We met in June 1999 and shortly afterwards we combined our talents and created Fairylove. Amongst other things we both now make wings full time.

Do you make a living making wings?
Yes we do! Like all small enterprises it's taken a lot of hard work and dedication. We first registered Fairylove as a business in Australia in 2000 but after a few promotional trips to the UK we decided to relocate and registered as a limited company in England in 2003.

Do you wear wings all the time?
Not all the time, but we often wear wings shopping, going to the pub or just around town. It's funny coz even though we're full time fairies sometimes even we forget how much fun you have when you wear wings. We like to practice what we preach!

Can I get a job working for Fairylove ?
Although we are rapidly expanding we are still quite a small outfit. If you think you might be interested in a career as a full time fairy come and say hello at one of the festies and tell us why. Fairylove has a non sexist, non racist, non ageist employment policy. As it says on the side of the Fairylove van.." There's a fairy in everyone!"

How do you make wings? What materials do you use to make wings?
Questions about wing making are probably amongst the most common we get from the site. Of course we are absolutely delighted that we are inspiring people into thinking about making their own wings but more importantly we always urge people to explore their own creativity for themselves.
I know how important this is from very personal experience.

When I first met Shelley I was petrified of expressing myself creatively but the more I did it, the easier it became, and more importantly the more inspired I was!

We don't want get in the way of your creativity coming up with amazing ideas by telling you how we do it; best thing is just to make a start yourself! Doesn't matter what you make or what it turns out like, just get going, you'll soon see how much fun you can have, and before very long you'll be surprising yourself (and probably others too!) with what you have come up with. This way everyone's wings will be unique and different like they're meant to be.

Can you fly?
Shelley believes that take off happens when you are truly happy and when you are having the most fun. Of course this does not happen all the time but when you are wearing wings it's so much easier to get off the ground!
